As can be seen from the 1996 photo, this area of broom scrub was severely affected by the 1995 fire. It did not recover fully until 2002 by which time it was as large and as dense as it had been in 1994.
Both heather and broom have continued to thrive here since 2006. This is the top of what is now known as Sally's Glade and the Friends of Troopers Hill have done a lot of work here to keep the bramble under control.
By 2011 the broom appeared taller and denser, but not more extensive compared with 2008. There were now large heather plants.
2016: Broom has spread further now largely obsuring the lower edge of the slope.
