>>Friends of Troopers Hill member, and local historian, Rob Acton-Campbell led us on a walk around the area to talk about its history.
There was a cold wind, but at least it stayed dry.
Rob talked about the Emra and Butler families and the way past activities have shaped the Hill and given us the wonderful green space that we all enjoy. This was the first walk where we were able to visit the Blue Plaque for Elizabeth Holmes (née Emra) which was installed in January.
As a bonus we were able to visit the eighteenth century bath-house, which is refered to by Elizabeth Emra and stands on private land.
This walk was part of Bristol Walk Fest 2026
