Experiencing Troopers Hill
**** Audio Trail ****

Below are details of our project to create an 'Audio Trail' for visitors to Troopers Hill. This project was completed during 2013 and the audio file is available for donwnload here: Audiotrail.mp3 or at www.troopers-hill.org.uk/audio

The trail starts at the top of the Hill at the entrance from the Field.

The Stepping Forward Audio Trail Project was funded by the Community Spaces programme. The Community Spaces grants programme is being managed by Groundwork UK as an Award Partner to the Big Lottery Fund. Community Spaces is part of the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces initiative.

Project Description

'The Audio Trail Project' has created an audio trail around the Hill and through the woodland. An audio MP3 file is downloadable from the website describing features on the Hill. We are fortunate to have a volunteer who put the files together and had the necessary equipment. The recordings also give directions, so a map is not essential. The existence of the audio trail will soon be advertised on site so that visitors can download the files to their phone on arrival at the site without the need to have visited the website beforehand.

Guided Walks

In order to get more information and to record audio descriptions we paid for local experts to lead a series of walks at different times of the year looking at different aspects of the site, ie Geology, Birdlife, Invertebrates, Flora, Fungi & Trees. These walks are open to the public to again increase awareness and use of the site. The experts we booked for the walks also agreed to record excerpts for the audio trail.

Details of the walks and how to book your place are given on our Events Page and in our 2013 Events Programme.

Dates:
• Geology Walk - Sunday 3rd February 2013 10.30am
• Dawn Chorus Walk - Sunday 17th March 6.30am

• Bug & Beasties Hunt - Saturday 10th August from 4pm
