The threatened showers stayed away, but it was breezy and cool as we helped Ray Barnett of the Bristol and District Moth Group to set up two light traps on the hill ready for a 9.30pm start. It wasn't an ideal night for moths, but as darkness fell the traps attracted a steady flow of flying visitors. 31 different spieces of moths were recorded "nothing earth-shattering but respectable given the cool breeze". Thank you to Pei-Ling Liao for the close-up photos of the moths. Report with list of moths recorded: Reports from previous moth nights and other invertebrate surveys on the hill can be seen on our Moths & Invertebrates page. Photos by Pei-Ling Liao |
