On Tuesday 4th August at 5 am our Secretary, Helen, took her place on The Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of Antony Gormley's One & Other project.

Antony Gormley, previously best known for his Angel of the North sculpture, conceived the idea of having a succession of real people take their place on the plinth for one hour each and for a total of 100 days. Helen was chosen as one of the 2400 successful applicants out of over 30,000 that have so far applied. Helen was thrilled to be picked.

As well as promoting the achievement of a third green flag, Helen devoted the hour on the plinth to a yoga practice devised with the advice of yoga instructor Sally Davies. Helen also displayed FOTH's unique cloth, which was specially created for them by children at Air Balloon Hill Junior school in 2005.

In addition to being featured on SkyArts on Friday evenings at 7 pm, the plinth is watched live by viewers around the world on the project website, so Helen took awareness of Troopers Hill far beyond East Bristol and to a global audience. The project's website has now been archived at www.webarchive.org.uk.

Helen was also featured on Radio Bristol and in the Bristol Evening Post - click here to read the article
